Our Commitment to Transparency

Joyu Labs participates in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com. When you click a product link on our site and make a purchase on Amazon, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This commission is paid by Amazon, not by you, and does not increase the price you pay. Our product recommendations are based solely on real-world renter testing, Amazon review analysis, and deposit-safety criteria. Commission rates never influence the ranking, inclusion, or exclusion of any product. We maintain complete editorial independence and are committed to helping apartment renters protect their security deposits.

How Our Recommendations Work

  1. Real Renter Testing: We install products in real US rental apartments, use them for 30+ days, then remove them and inspect the wall/tile/cabinet surface for any damage or residue.
  2. 5 Mandatory Criteria: Every recommended product must have 4.5+ stars, 1000+ Amazon reviews, an official residue-free claim, compatibility with standard US apartment surfaces, and 10+ renter reviews confirming full deposit return.
  3. No Pay-to-Play: Brands and retailers cannot pay to be ranked higher or included in our recommendations. Rankings are determined solely by deposit-safety performance and renter satisfaction.
  4. Honest Pros and Cons: Every recommendation includes both strengths and genuine downsides — including which wall types the product does NOT work on.

Affiliate Relationship

We participate in one affiliate program:

  • Amazon Associates Program — Commission rates typically range from 1% to 4% depending on the product category. These are standard Amazon rates and have no bearing on our recommendation rankings.

We do not currently participate in any other affiliate programs. If this changes, we will update this page accordingly.

How to Identify Affiliate Links

All pages containing affiliate links include a disclosure statement at the top of the page (before any product recommendations). Buttons labeled "Check Price on Amazon," "View on Amazon," or similar text are affiliate links. You will be directed to Amazon.com where standard Amazon pricing and policies apply.

What We Don't Do

  • We never display Amazon product prices on our site (prices change frequently — always check Amazon directly)
  • We never use Amazon's official trademarks or logos beyond what is permitted by the Associates Program
  • We never guarantee that any product will prevent security deposit deductions
  • We never accept payment from brands to feature or rank their products
